Reading goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen has signed a new two-and-a-half year contract to keep him at Madejski Stadium until the summer of 2011.

The 20-year-old's previous deal was due to expire at the end of the current season.

Director of football Nick Hammond told the club's official website: "Mikkel has progressed very well this season, and with his contract coming up in the summer it was important to get this new deal agreed and signed."

He added: "He's had a number of games on the bench for us and gave a very good performance on loan at Brentford as well.

"He's also broken into the Denmark under-21 squad, so he's had a very good season."
