The sale is off...

Jan-Paul Saeijs' proposed transfer from Roda JC to Southampton looks to be off following the south coast club's relegation from the Coca-Cola Championship.

Saeijs has been on loan at St Mary's since January and the club had the option to sign him on a permanent basis.

But Roda technical director Martin van Geel insists Saints' 10-point deduction for their holding company, Southampton Leisure Holdings plc, going into administration means any deal is off.

He told De Limburger newspaper: "The sale is off. It might be that he has played himself into the picture, because we do understand that he did a fine job there."
