Things are really starting to get interesting in League One, with the top five teams separated by just four points. With six of the top seven sides playing each other on Saturday the whole complexion of the table could change dramatically by tomorrow evening. One of the big games of the day takes place at Ashton Gate, where Bristol City will be hoping to climb two places to second with a win against Tranmere. The Robins are unbeaten in their last six games, while the impressive form of winger Scott Murray has put the Scot in contention for the PFA Fans' Player of the Month. Givemefootball's Mark Shail caught up with Murray, who has netted four times over the Christmas period.
Q:HAVE YOU BEEN PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS OVER CHRISTMAS?
A:They haven't been too bad although we were a bit disappointed to draw against both Bournemouth and Cheltenham. But at least we haven't been getting beaten and there is a lot of confidence in the side right now.
Q:IT’S VERY TIGHT AT THE TOP OF THE TABLE, ISN'T IT?
A:I think it's going to be one of those seasons where it goes right down to the wire. The thing about this league is that any team is capable of beating any other so you can never take anything for granted. There are some important games at the top of the table tomorrow, including our match against Tranmere and if we can win it will open up a four-point gap between us and them.
Q:HAVE YOU BEEN SURPRISED BY HOW WELL SCUNTHORPE AND OLDHAM ARE DOING?
A:I have a little, but they are two good sides and in Andy Keogh and Billy Sharp, Scunthorpe have a formidable attack. Oldham are one of the form sides in the division right now – and the fact that they beat Nottingham Forest 5-0 and drew at Wolves last week underlines how well they are playing at the moment. But there are other teams like Yeovil and Swansea doing well also but as far as we concerned it's a question of plugging away and make sure we keep picking up the points.
Q:IS A TOP-TWO FINISH THE PRIMARY TARGET?
A:I think it has to be when you play for a club as big as Bristol City. Every season we start with the intention of going up automatically and this year is no different. Hopefully this time we can realise our target but the very least we want to achieve is a place in the top six.
Q:YOU MUST BE DELIGHTED WITH YOUR RECENT FORM?
A:I have been pleased with it and it's nice to get amongst the goals as well. To score four goals in five matches was a big boost for me because I am a confidence player. When I'm on a run of form like this I go into every game thinking that I'm going to play well and score goals.
Q:BEING A PROUD SCOT, WHAT DID YOU MAKE OF WALTER SMITH'S DECISION TO JOIN RANGERS?
A:It was probably an easy decision for Walter once he was offered the job at Rangers because he has strong connections with the club. Obviously it's disappointing from the SFA's point of view but people shouldn’t forget what an excellent job Walter did for Scotland while he was in charge.
