Accrington have agreed a deal to sign Danny Coid and have also allowed former Everton striker Francis Jeffers to train with the club.

Defender Coid, 29, has agreed a one-year contract at the Crown Ground with the option to extend the deal.

He was a trainee at Blackpool, making over 250 appearances for the Tangerines before spending time on loan at Rotherham last season.

Coid said: "I'm really pleased to be here.

"A few people recommended for me to come here and the set-up is similar to Blackpool's so I'm used to that."

Jeffers, meanwhile, was invited to training to build up fitness after being released by Motherwell.
