Filipe Teixeira will remain at Barnsley until the end of the season after agreeing to extend his loan from West Brom.

The creative midfielder arrived at Oakwell at the start of February on an initial 28-day loan. And, after impressing in his six first-team appearances to date, Teixeira will now remain with the Tykes until the beginning of May.

"Filipe has been outstanding for us during the games he has played and we are absolutely delighted to have extended his loan spell here," said Barnsley boss Mark Robins on the club's official website.

"He is an exciting player and one the supporters have really taken to so hopefully we will continue to see just how good a footballer he is in the coming weeks."

Teixeira joined West Brom in July 2007 in a £600,000 move from Portuguese side Academica de Coimbra.
