Barnsley manager Mark Robins is hoping to add at least two more players to his squad before the opening game of the new season at QPR.

Robins, linked with West Brom's New Zealand World Cup striker Chris Wood, has so far made six permanent new signings this summer and drafted in another player on a season-long loan.

Robins said: "I'm hoping to finalise a squad that gives me a few alternatives. We've got that but we'd like to enhance it and make sure we've got enough bodies in to start the season."

He added: "I'd like a lot more, but I won't be able to get a lot more because we've got a structure, a framework we're working within.

"So there's been a lot of careful negotiation and hopefully that will pay off for us in the long run, but I certainly need a couple more."
