Barnsley manager Simon Davey has turned down an improved offer from Bristol City for midfielder Anderson De Silva.

Davey is desperate to keep hold of the Brazilian playmaker he signed from Everton after an initial loan spell in January 2008, but is bracing himself for further approaches.

"Every player has a price, so we'll have to see what happens," Davey told the Sheffield Star.

"I don't want to lose him, Anderson is an integral part of our team.

"Bristol City came in with a bid and we rejected it and then they came in with an improved offer, but that bid was not accepted either."
