Vokes keeps Wolves top

Substitute Sam Vokes struck twice in the last nine minutes as table-topping Wolves maintained their fine start in the Coca-Cola Championship with a 3-1 win at Charlton.

Vokes, a goalscorer for Wales last week, came off the bench shortly after Sylvan Ebanks-Blake's 61st-minute penalty had cancelled out Nick Bailey's third-minute volley.

The 18-year-old made an immediate impression, with two poacher's finishes keeping Wolves above Birmingham on goal difference.

Birmingham survived the 24th-minute sending-off of Mehdi Nafti to see off Doncaster 1-0 at St Andrews.

Cameron Jerome volleyed the only goal of the game just seconds after the restart, as the Blues were rewarded for their resilience.

Nafti was shown a straight red card for a needless two-footed challenge on James Coppinger.
