Neil Warnock believes his reputation preceded him as he was dismissed in Crystal Palace's 2-0 loss at Cardiff.
Warnock and Cardiff counterpart Dave Jones were both sent to the stands by referee Russell Booth in an explosive Coca-Cola Championship match, which was decided by two strikes from Ross McCormack - a first-half penalty and his 22nd of the season in stoppage time.
"I don't really know why I was sent off," said Warnock. "The referee said it was to calm things down and make both of us go up there. Your reputation goes ahead of you sometimes."
The flashpoint happened towards the end of the first half when Claude Davis caught Roger Johnson in the throat with a flying arm, which left the shaken Cardiff defender needing medical attention and tempers boiled over at half-time, with players and coaching staff from both sides involved in the fracas.
"Dave was misinformed," added Warnock. "Claude didn't elbow him. If anything, he ran into his arm. I don't think Claude will get done for that. There was no arm movement at all.
"Both teams wanted to win, and we didn't throw in the towel. But I like Cardiff. I hope they go up."
