Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock has played down speculation linking the club with Yeovil defender Nathan Smith.

The 21-year-old has been linked with the Championship club, but Warnock insists he is not looking for defensive cover.

He told the Croydon Guardian: "I think he (Smith) might have been the lad that was recommended to us but I am alright for left backs now."

Despite revealing he doesn't need to bolster his back-line, Warnock revealed Wakefield Town defender Marc Roberts is currently on trial at the club.

Warnock added: "He is in training with us for a week and we are getting a look at him.

"We look at a lot of lads though and we've also got two others on trial as somebody asked us to have a look at them and it doesn't cost us anything."
