Yes and no really....

Wayne Andrews is one of a long list of players looking for a new club for next season following his release by Coventry City. The much-travelled 30-year-old striker began his career at Watford but left Vicarage Road in 1999 and then had spells in non-league football with St Albans, Aldershot Town and Chesham United, before being spotted and signed by the then Oldham boss Iain Dowie in 2002. The following season Andrews moved to Colchester, where he scored 16 goals in 36 appearances, leading to Dowie re-signing Andrews when he took over at Crystal Palace. In 2006, he switched to Coventry but a lack of first team opportunities led to him being loaned out to both Leeds and Bristol Rovers last term. Givemefootball's Mark Shail is the man with the questions.

Q:HAVE YOU MANAGED TO FIND A NEW CLUB YET?

A:No not yet. It's all pretty quiet at the moment mainly because of Euro 2008 but I'm sure things will start to get busier once that tournament is over. But some clubs are returning to pre-season training in just two weeks to there isn't that much time.

Q:WERE YOU DISAPPOINTED TO LEAVE COVENTRY?

A:Yes and no really. I wasn't in the side when the new manager (Chris Coleman) arrived at the club and it was difficult to force my way in. They are a big club but at this stage of my career I want to be playing more regularly. Playing reserve team football isn't the same as being involved in competitive matches.

Q:BUT YOU HAD TWO LOAN SPELLS LAST SEASON, DIDN'T YOU?

A:Yes, first of all I went to Leeds at a time when they had some injury worries over a few strikers and that was a good experience, although I didn't play as much as I would have liked. Then I went to Bristol Rovers on the agreement that I would be there until the end of the season but I got injured in the first 20 minutes of my first match and had to return to Coventry – so that was very frustrating.

Q:HAVE YOU BEEN KEEPING YOURSELF FIT OVER THE SUMMER?

A:Actually I'm going to the gym today just to keep myself ticking over. With pre-season training not too far away it's important that I'm in good condition for when I do find a club. The knee feels fine now and I'm just looking to playing some games and hopefully scoring some goals.

Q:HAVE YOU HAD ANY ENQUIRIES FROM CLUBS?

A:Yes I've had a couple of phone calls but right now I'm keeping my options open and not rushing into anything. One of the clubs I have spoken to have got to get some players out before they can bring new ones in so for me it's a question of sitting tight. I'm sure everything will sort itself out in the next few weeks.

Q:YOU HAVE PLAYED WIDE ON THE RIGHT IN THE PAST BUT IS UP FRONT YOUR PREFERRED POSITION?

A:While I was a Crystal Palace I played on the wing but, although I can do a job out there, I see myself as a striker and that's where I feel the most comfortable. For one reason and another I haven't been playing regularly and scoring goals over the last couple of years but hopefully that will change next season. * For more information on the full list of players released this summer, click on the 'Player Transfer Directory' banner on the home page.
