Burton Albion Club Profile

Burton Albion’s league history is the shortest of the 92 members of football’s exclusive club, but they are steeped in tradition.

The Brewers started life back in 1950 and moved to their original Eton Park home in 1958. They were shunted between the Northern and Southern Premier Leagues before the arrival of Nigel Clough.

The current Derby boss transformed Burton and they swiftly won promotion to the Conference in 2002, and after spending a decade at the club he left them within a whisker of the Promised Land last term.

However, Roy McFarland nudged them over the finishing line to take their plush new Pirelli Stadium, which was built at a cost of £7.2m in 2005, into the Football League.

McFarland left despite clinching promotion, and he was replaced by rookie boss Paul Peschisolido and his assistant Gary Rowett.

The feel-good factor has in no way dissipated from the Staffordshire town and Peschisolido has guided them to a solid start in League Two.

Peschisolido’s only previous managerial experience came as an assistant manager at St Pat’s athletic in the League of Ireland, but he has already proved his worth with some astute signings and a plethora of goals.
