The Sky Blues enjoyed their finest hour in 1987 when John Sillett and George Curtis led them glory in the FA Cup. Coventry City won a pulsating encounter against Tottenham Hotspur with a 3-2 scoreline. Dave Bennett, Keith Houchen and a Gary Mabbutt own goal ensured that side etched itself into Coventry news folklore and the players are still revered in the city. The club had been languishing until Jimmy Hill arrived in 1961, which coincided with a boom time in the car industry. He changed the kit to Sky Blue, recorded an anthem that is still sung on the terraces today but, more importantly, guided Coventry City players from the third to first division for the first time in their history. Coventry set a club record 25-game unbeaten run during that season and were watched by a crowd of over 51,000 as the clinched the title against Wolves. Hill then promptly decided he was going to forge a career in television and eventually became the anchor man for Match of the Day. Coventry City were League Division Two (Championship) winners in 1967 and Third Division (League One) champions in 1964. They were also crowned Third division south champions in 1936.
