Liverpool Club Profile

Liverpool can rightly call themselves the most successful club in English football and have won more trophies than any other club from these shores. They have a record 18 English league titles although their last Championship was in 1990 and they have never won the Premier League.

As well as that, the Reds have five European Cups to their name with only AC Milan and Real Madrid bettering that haul. As for the modern-day Champions League, Liverpool have won this just once, beating Milan in a thrilling Istanbul final three years ago.

On the domestic front, Liverpool have won the FA Cup and League Cup seven times and were awarded the UEFA badge of honour after their fifth European Cup triumph. Off the field, Liverpool players found themselves with new Amercan owners 18 months ago when Tom Hicks and George Gillett took control.

But a major slice of Liverpool's history is set to disappear in two years' time when they are due to leave their famous Anfield ground and move to a new 70,000 seater stadium near to Stanley Park.
