CREATING SPACE FOR JUNIOR PLAYERS 3

To progress: Area - 20 metres (width) 20 metres (length) divided at the halfway point
Players - 5 against 5, with one server

Practice
  • The ball is played into the O’s and as soon as one of the O team touches the ball, two players from the opposite team (X’s) move into the opposing half making a 5 against 2 situation.
  • O’s must try and keep the ball amongst themselves, the 2 X’s act as defenders trying to win the ball.
  • O’s are given a target of 6 successive passes to gain a point, but if X’s either intercept or get a touch on the ball – the practice ends.
  • The X’s have won possession, the server plays the ball into their half of the area with 2 of the O’s now moving in to try and regain the ball.

COACHES SHOULD LOOK FOR GOOD MOVEMENT AROUND THE AREA BY WHICHEVER TEAM HAS THE BALL.
