After Moussa Dembele was sent off against Wisla Krakow in the Europa League a fortnight ago, many feel at the instigation of Gervasio Nunez, striker Andy Johnson has prompted his teammates to join in for some European style play acting.

"There's a lot of diving, a lot of play-acting going on. We've just got to be clever," said Johnson.

"Maybe we need to do it a bit ourselves just to keep up with these teams and make things fair."

Whether diving counts as being 'clever' remains to be seen, and it will be interesting to see if manager Martin Jol supports his striker after suggesting he would be against such antics from his players.

Johnson did throw caution to the wind however: "I think you need to be careful. You need to be a bit wiser in Europe. That's always been the case."

The former England striker's caution should have only been towards the referee, he probably should have considered his manager.

Martin Jol said earlier on, "I would have a word with [my player if they did what Nunez did] because it is not our style," he said. "You won't see that in our team."
