Arsenal will have to try again to get past last season's beaten FA Cup finalists Cardiff after the two teams shared a 0-0 draw at Ninian Park.
Both sides created chances with the Championship side especially impressive in the first half.
But neither goalkeeper was beaten and this re-run of the 1927 final will be played again in London in a replay next month.
