River Plate striker Gonzalo Higuain has rejected a call-up from France coach Raymond Domenech, claiming he is not yet ready to choose between Argentina and Les Bleus.

The 18-year-old forward - who was born in Brest, France - has revealed that he made a decision with his family not to commit his international future to either country until he has secured a move to a European club. Recent speculation has linked him with a move to Real Madrid, Chelsea and AC Milan.

Higuain has hinted that he would prefer to play for Argentina, telling reporters on Thursday: "The white and light-blue shirt weighs heavily."
