Despite a disappointing run of pre-season friendly results, Espanyol coach Miguel Angel Lotina is in confident mood as the Catalan side prepare to face Getafe this weekend.

Espanyol have retained Antonio Ito who was on loan from Real Betis last season but has now been bought but the big loss has been Maxi Rodriguez to Atletico Madrid with the Argentinian a revelation last year.

"We are better than the results we have had show," said Lotina after the final pre-season match against Olympiacos which ended in defeat. "We will not start the season at a 100% but our level is high and 15 days ago I would have been happy to be in the position that we are now in."
