Ooijer blow to PSV

By PA Sport  February 22, 2006
PSV Eindhoven´s Champions League defeat to Lyon has been compounded by the news Andre Ooijer has broken a toe.

The defender played the whole of Tuesday night´s 1-0 loss at the Philips Stadion but has now been ruled out for up to six weeks. The injury is a huge blow for the Dutch champions and league leaders, who have key Eredivisie games coming up - including a tough trip to AZ Alkmaar on Sunday, as well as the Champions League return in France in two weeks´ time.

It is also a setback for Ooijer´s World Cup hopes, as he will not be available for Holland´s forthcoming friendly with Ecuador - not the first time injury has hindered the player´s international prospects.
