Malaga are set to be without central midfielder Marcelo Romero for a further three months.
The Uruguayan, who is in his fifth season with the club, has undergone an operation on his right knee for damage he sustained against Cadiz on the first day of the season.
The club originally decided on a conservative treatment without surgery, but Romero´s continued problems have forced them to operate.
