Sporting destroy Basle

By PA Sport  February 22, 2008
Sporting Lisbon cruised into the last 16 of the UEFA Cup after a 5-0 aggregate destruction of beleaguered Basle.

A second-minute goal from Bruno Pereirinha at St Jakob-Park on Thursday night all but ended the hosts´ hopes of a second-leg fightback before Liedson struck twice either side of half-time to seal Sporting´s progression.

The Portuguese outfit will now play Premier League side Bolton Wanderers in the next round.
