Grimsby boss Mike Newell has secured his second loan recruit in as many days by signing Rob Atkinson from Barnsley.
The 21-year-old defender, who joins until the beginning of January, had a successful loan spell with the Mariners last term.
He is available to face Darlington on Saturday and is also eligible for FA Cup duty.
