On-loan Portsmouth midfielder Jean-Francois Christophe has been given permission to play for Southend in their FA Cup tie against Telford at the weekend.

The 21-year-old, who scored the Shrimpers' late equaliser in the 3-3 draw with local rivals Colchester at the weekend, is now free to play in the first round clash after it originally seemed he would be unavailable.

However, boss Steve Tilson could still be without loanees Adam Federici, Dan Harding, Lee Sawyer and Hal Robson-Kanu.

"It's all been sorted and Jean can now play for us at the weekend," Tilson told the club's official site.

"It's good news for us but I don't think the other loan players we have will be able to play."
