Everyone benefits from this...

Northampton manager Stuart Gray admits he will have one eye on Preston's results after securing the services of Karl Hawley for a second month.

Hawley scored the second goal of his stay at Sixfields in last Friday's 1-0 win over Hartlepool and Gray is hoping that Lilywhites boss Alan Irvine won't need him at Deepdale.

He said: "Everyone benefits from this. The only downside from our point of view is that Preston have a 24-hour recall clause on him."

He added: "They've allowed Brett Ormerod to join Oldham this week but they can't call him back so we'll just have to have our fingers crossed that Preston get some decent results and don't pick up any injuries this month.

"We want to use Karl in the five or six games this month. We haven't sorted out whether he can play in the FA Cup for us yet but I will speak to Alan Irvine nearer the time."
