Southend manager Steve Tilson has extended the loans of Reading duo Adam Federici and Hal Robson-Kanu.

Federici has excelled in goal in place of the injured Steve Mildenhall although the Shrimpers' first-choice stopper is closing in on a return after playing for the reserves.

Tilson said: "Adam will be staying with us until the FA Cup game at the start of November which he won't be allowed to play in. We have also taken Hal for a further 27 days which is the maximum we are now allowed to do so."

He added: "Steve Mildenhall did well at Tottenham by all accounts but he still needs a few matches before he is fit.
