Hull's new signing Kevin Kilbane is determined to hit the ground running to help pull the club away from any potential relegation battle.
The Republic of Ireland winger, who joined Hull on a two-and-a-half-year deal this week, is set to go straight into the squad for Saturday night's Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal at the KC Stadium.
Kilbane said: "It's been a long few days but I am delighted to have signed and get everything completed. I'm just looking forward to getting up and running this weekend."
He added: "I want to get back playing and play as many games as I can before the end of the season. I haven't played a lot this season so when the opportunity came to move I jumped at it.
"I have got a little bit of experience behind me and been in teams that have had to get points on the board. Certainly over the last couple of seasons at Wigan we've been in trouble but got the points.
"I've got a bit of experience of that behind me and hopefully I can add a bit to see us through to the end of the season to get us safe.
"Apart from maybe the top five or six, everyone else is fighting to stay in the league. That has got to be the goal in everyone's mind first and foremost. After that, who knows, but we have got to get to that 40-point mark as soon as possible.
"It is a tough start, Arsenal coming here is a very tough game.
"But at home, with the backing we have got, anything can happen. We have got to hit the ground running, we have got to get the points on the board as soon as possible and hopefully we can start that this weekend."
