Scotland will begin their European Championship qualifying campaign with an away game against Lithuania on Friday, September 3, the Scottish Football Association confirmed.

New national team boss Craig Levein and SFA chief executive Gordon Smith met with representatives from Scotland's Group I rivals in Madrid on Friday morning to finalise the fixture schedule.

Levein will face four double-headers during the campaign, with the Lithuania away game followed by Liechtenstein at home on Tuesday, September 7.

The next double-header comes against Czech Republic (away) and Spain (home) on Friday, October 8 and Tuesday, October 12, respectively.

Scotland will then face almost 11 months without a competitive match until hosting the Czech Republic and Lithuania on Saturday, September 3, 2011, and Tuesday, September 6, respectively.

The final double-header is away from home, at Liechtenstein on Saturday, October 8, and Spain three days later.
