QPR have been rocked by the news midfielder Akos Buzsaky will miss the rest of the season through injury.

The Hungary international limped off during the first half of Rangers' 1-0 Carling Cup defeat at Manchester United on Tuesday night, and a scan has confirmed an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Buzsaky will undergo surgery later this week and then faces between six and nine months on the sidelines.

"It's a massive blow for us," said caretaker manager Gareth Ainsworth.

"Akos is a unique talent and was just starting to hit peak form again following a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

"I'm devastated we've lost him, but all we can do is offer him support and wish him all the best with his recovery."
