Ipswich defender Ben Thatcher has stepped up his comeback from a thigh injury.

The former Charlton left-back ripped his thigh muscle in the Carling Cup defeat to Wigan last month and is expected to be back within six weeks.

Physio Matt Byard told the club's official website: "You have to be very careful during rehabilitation with the sort of injury that Ben has."

He addedL "But we have been very pleased with the progress he has made. He has been doing some cycling work and we will be looking to step up his workload next week.

"It's important that we continue to monitor his condition at every stage but all the signs of a good recovery are very encouraging."
