Charlton have signed Oldham striker Pawel Abbott for a nominal fee.

The 28-year-old former Poland Under-21 international, who was Oldham's top scorer last season with 13 goals, has signed a two-year contract at The Valley and becomes their second capture of the day after the arrival of Simon Francis from Southend.

Boss Phil Parkinson told the club's official website: "It's been a good day and it's great news to have Pawel on board."

He added: "We know we are short in the striker department. Pawel is another player I've known for a while and I watched him for many years when he was at Huddersfield Town.

"He's a big targetman who is always a goal threat, and he's got a good goalscoring record."

Both Abbott and Francis are expected to be involved when the Addicks take on Watford on Saturday.
