Graham Alexander has returned to Preston on a one-year deal following his departure from Burnley.

The 39-year-old Scotland international made exactly 400 appearances for the Lilywhites during his first spell at Deepdale between 1999 and 2007, scoring 63 times.

And he is delighted to have returned to the club as Phil Brown's men bid to bounce back from last season's relegation from the npower Championship.

Coventry-born Alexander told Preston's official website: "I am really excited as it was something I was hoping for.

"I have finalised leaving Burnley today (Wednesday) so I could finally make the move. It is brilliant.

"I didn't sleep much last night because I was looking forward to training with the boys today and I am looking forward to everything."
