Under-fire Tranmere boss John Barnes has urged his players to show more composure when rivals Stockport visit Prenton Park on Monday night.

Barnes has come under increased scrutiny in the wake of his side's dismal run of form which has seen them lose eight of their 11 League One outings this season, with Rovers fans calling for his head during Tuesday's defeat at Bury in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

"I can't fault the lads for their effort and commitment but we do need to play with more understanding and composure," said Barnes.

"The only way we are going to get out of this is to stick together and keep trying."
