Brentford chairman Greg Dyke has confirmed they have been sounded out by Peterborough over the possibility of manager Andy Scott taking over at London Road.

The Bees received an enquiry from the Coca-Cola Championship strugglers earlier in the wake of Darren Ferguson's departure. Scott, 37, has a one-year rolling contract at Griffin Park but Dyke is hopeful his head will not be turned by Posh.

"There was an approach from Peterborough earlier in the week, but as yet I have heard nothing further on the matter," Dyke told the Hounslow and Brentford Times. "My understanding is they are working through a shortlist of four candidates."

He added: "You'd have to ask Andy if managing Peterborough - who are bottom of the Championship - is a better job."
