Huddersfield midfielder James Berrett has signed a new three-year contract.

Halifax-born Berrett has made only 10 first-team appearances this season, but manager Lee Clark has big plans for the 20-year-old, who still had a year to run on his existing deal.

Clark told the club's official website: "I'm very happy to have James' long-term future secured to the club. I've talked to him about the situation and can see him playing a vital role over the coming season."

Berrett added: "I think the club is going places and I want to be a part of it.

"The main thing is that I'm enjoying my football. We have a good set of lads here and I love the fact I'm playing for my hometown club."

Berrett made his Terriers debut as a second-half substitute at Oldham in April 2007 and his first full appearance the following January in a 2-1 FA Cup win against Birmingham.
