Oldham have bolstered their squad with the signing of Welsh left back Joe Jacobson on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old defender has spent the last two years with League One rivals Bristol Rovers. Jacobson, a former Cardiff trainee, told the club's official website: "I feel great and cannot wait to get training with the rest of the lads.

"Oldham is a big club and new manager Dave Penney has a reputation of getting the best out of players. That suits me fine and I can't wait to show Latics fans just what I can bring to the party.”

Opening Fixture

Staying with Oldham, and boss Penney says he’s more than happy to kick off the new campaign with a local derby against Stockport.

“A local derby is a great way to start the season and staff, players and fans alike will all be looking forward to it," Penney told the club's official website.

"We're sure to have a good crowd and a good atmosphere and I know this fixture is one everyone looks for when the fixtures come out.

"We will be looking to get off to the best possible start on home turf, but Stockport will be saying exactly the same thing at their end.”
