The son of retired England international forward Teddy Sheringham made his first professional appearance for Bournemouth earlier this week.

Charlie Sheringham, 23, came on as a substitute in the second-half in the Cherries' draw with Colchester on Tuesday. He didn't manage to get on the scoresheet, but was full of confidence after the run-out.

"I only had a few touches and I fancied myself to score because I was flying in finishing practice on Monday. But I'm pleased to have played 15 minutes and hopefully there will be more to come," he said.

"Unfortunately it didn't happen on Saturday because of a couple of injuries but that's just how it goes sometimes and I knew I would get a chance sooner rather than later."

Sheringham only recently moved to the Seward Stadium from Dartford, where he netted 30 times in 46 appearances.
