Brighton have signed Marcos Painter on loan from Swansea until the end of the season.
The defender has made just six appearances for the Championship side this season following his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury.
Seagulls boss Gus Poyet told the club's official website: "Marcos is a good signing for us and I am looking forward to working with him. He knows the division having won promotion with Swansea and his arrival gives us good competition for places."
Painter added: "I'm looking forward to the challenge at Brighton. I've spoken to Gus Poyet and I think he's looking at me as a centre-half as well.
"I'm fully committed to the challenge and I really want to do a good job there."
