Charlton ace is confident the Addicks will get it right this time

Kyel Reid is aiming high ahead of the new League One Season, with automatic promotion the only target in mind Charlton’s young winger is delighted to be back at the Valley after sealing a permanent move from Sheffield United. After spending the second half of last season on loan at the Addicks, Reid is optimistic about Charlton’s chances this season.He watched from the sidelines as Charlton went out to Swindon on penalties in the league One Playoff semi-final last term and is determined not to let last season’s disappointment affect him.After making 17 appearances for the Addicks during his loan spell in south-east London, scoring four goals, Reid is glad to put a difficult time at Sheffield United behind him. In the first six months of his time at Bramall Lane he made only a handful of substitute appearances after signing on a free transfer from West Ham and Reid cites a difficult relationship with the manager as the reason for it not working out at United. However the London born player has become an instant hit with the Valley crowd after some impressive performances for the Addicks and his desire to do well for his new club is clear. Speaking after the disappointing performance against fellow Londoners Barnet, Reid said: “This is the right place for me to be playing week in, week out. I’m ready to try and kick on with my career.” Phil Parkinson will be hoping the young winger does just that after putting his faith in the 22 year-old, by signing him on a permanent contract following his release by Sheffield United.Looking ahead to the new season Reid says he and his fellow teammates are looking fit and that Charlton should be challenging for automatic promotion from League One next year. However he is also wary of what a competitive league they are in, saying: “Anyone can beat anyone on their day.
