Carlisle boss Greg Abbott admitted he had run the whole gamut of emotions after Carlisle’s rollercoaster win at MK Dons.
The struggling Cumbrians turned the formbook on its head to record a 4-3 victory against Paul Ince’s high fliers that left him breathless.
He told BBC Radio Cumbria: “At 3-3 everybody in this stadium apart from our lads and the fans that were magnificent probably think we are going to get beat.
“But we have probably played our best football again at the start and the end of the game and had great chances to seal it. I don’t think anyone can begrudge us it although the MK Dons people will be upset they haven’t got a result.
“We need it more than them and we have dug as deep as we possibly can. It was special as it has taken us to the heights of ecstasy and to the depths of despair and then back up to wherever we are. So that is an amazing game of football.”
Huddersfield boss Lee Clark slammed his side’s defending after their promotion charge hit the rocks at Swindon.
The Terriers have been sensational at home but it is their travel sickness that is letting them down and Clark pulled no punches after this 2-1 defeat. “We have to improve our defending away from home,” he told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.
“For the first goal we allowed them to get in a free header from a set piece and the ball was nodded down and the lad (Paynter) was able to score with ease.
“And for the second goal we lost possession on halfway where we must be more competitive – and then we gave the scorer far too much space.
“I know the wind made it a bit of a lottery and that was a shame because we had two of the better footballing sides in the division on show. But, if I’m being honest I thought Danny Wilson’s side coped with the conditions better.
“In the first half, when we had the wind behind us we didn’t get enough balls into the danger area, we didn’t get enough shots in and we didn’t test them enough.”
