Northampton have signed goalkeeper Simon Brown on a contractual basis until mid-January.
The 32-year-old former Tottenham, Colchester, Hibernian and Brentford shot stopper was a free agent following his departure from Griffin Park at the start of July, despite being offered a new deal by the Bees.
"I think at this moment we need an experienced keeper at the club and we are pleased that Simon has agreed to join us," said Cobblers caretaker manager Ian Sampson.
"I also think that Chris Dunn and the rest of the players will benefit from his arrival. Simon has a wealth of experience having played both in England and Scotland and he is a good age for a keeper.
"The competition will be good for Chris and for his long-term development he may well benefit from having a breather at this stage, although Simon knows Chris will be desperate to claim that shirt back and that is the way it should be."
Sampson continued: "We made contact earlier this week, Simon trained with us on Thursday and I am sure he will settle in quickly and can be a big help to us."
