Northampton chairman David Cardoza has revealed that the club have rejected a number of offers for players since the relegation to League Two.

The likes of Jason Crowe, Giles Coke and Mark Hughes have left the Cobblers since May on free transfers but Cardoza admits he is fighting to keep hold of a number of other players.

He said: "We have received written offers for a number of our players but our position is that players are not for sale because we want to get out of this league."

He added: "Selling some players would help balance the books but we want to go up straight away and that won't help us do that.

"It's difficult because players want to play at the highest level possible and if any of them ask to leave and any club matches their value then it's not a problem.

"We only want players at the club who want to be here."
