The draw between MK Dons and Hereford in midweek means Paul Ince's side are four points clear of second-placed Peterborough, with Hereford a further seven points adrift in third. Posh travel to Hereford on Saturday knowing that a victory at Edgar Street will see them promoted to League One regardless of other results. However, Darren Ferguson's side will have to bounce back from last weekend's shock 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Stockport – a first loss for Posh in 18 matches. With the winning post so tantalisingly close, it is understandable that the players are starting to feel a little edgy although, as givemefootball's Mark Shail discovered, skipper Craig Morgan is confident the team won't slip up again.

Q:YOU MUST HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED WITH THE RESULT LAST WEEK?

A:We knew we were in for a tough game as Stockport have been on a brilliant run and they played very well to be fair. I don't think we could have done a lot about the goal. The lad scuffed it a bit but it went right into the top corner of the goal.

Q:DID YOU THINK YOU DESERVED SOMETHING FROM THE GAME?

A:I felt we deserved to take a point because of all the possession we had. We hit the woodwork a few times but it was one of those days when the ball just wouldn't drop in the right place for us. I felt we still had time to get back and win the game, but it wasn't to be. These things happen but one defeat in our last 18 matches is still a fantastic record.

Q:BUT THERE IS STILL PROMOTION AND A POSSIBLE TITLE TO BE WON?

A:With MK Dons not winning it was a golden chance for us to close the gap, but we will secure promotion first and then think about the title. There are some big games coming up including ours at Hereford on Saturday. We will have to win again to make sure we go up and that's what we will go and do.

Q:BUT OVERALL, IT'S BEEN A GREAT RUN OF FORM FOR THE SIDE SINCE CHRISTMAS, HASN'T IT?

A:Of course it was disappointing not to beat Stockport, especially in front of such a big crowd, but they played well and there is certainly no need to panic because we lost one game. If someone had offered me a 17-game unbeaten run at this stage of the season I’d have snatched their hand off.

Q:AND WHAT A TREMENDOUS FIRST SEASON IT HAS BEEN FOR DARREN FERGUSON?

A:It's been a real learning curve for the manager and the players. It's his first season in management and the fact that we are on the brink of promotion shows what a great job he and his staff have done.

Q:WHAT WILL IT MEAN TO THE PLAYERS TO CLINCH PROMOTION?

A:A lot of our players are young and several have come from non-league football to play at this level for the first time so it shows what a great season it has been. We now have to go to Hereford looking to get the job done and we are confident we can do it. We would have loved to have got promotion in front of our own fans last week, but we’ll take it any way we can get it now.
