Brentford have handed a trial to former Crystal Palace midfielder James Dayton.

The 20-year-old, who is a free agent after being released by Palace at the end of last season, played the first 45 minutes as the Bees' reserves were beaten 2-0 by Aldershot on Monday afternoon.

Dayton did not manage to make a senior appearance during two years at Selhurst Park but has spent time on loan with Yeovil and, most recently, Crawley Town.
