Jason Dodd has revealed it was a "no-brainer" to accept the role as caretaker manager of Aldershot.
The 39-year-old has taken temporary charge of team affairs at the Recreation Ground following the departure of Gary Waddock to Wycombe.
Dodd, who was caretaker manager at former club Southampton and had a spell managing non-league Eastleigh, will be assisted by ex- Saints team-mate Paul Williams and told Press Association Sport: "It was a no-brainer to come in and I am looking forward to the challenge."
He continued: "Our brief is to build on what Gary has brought to the club. He did a fantastic job and I have inherited a great squad.
"This is the next best thing to playing and I believe I have got plenty to offer and I can't wait to get out and show what I can do.
"I have been asked to come in for this game and we will assess it after that."
