MK Dons failed to cut the gap on Leicester at the top of Coca-Cola League One after they squandered a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 at Carlisle.
Dons started the game four points adrift of the Foxes, who play on Monday, and they looked to be in pole position to reduce that to a solitary point when they went 2-0 ahead.
Jamal Johnson had plenty of space and gave the ball to Aaron Wilbraham, who picked his spot to put the Dons ahead in the 15th minute. Wilbraham doubled the lead after 39 minutes after turning his marker and making something out of nothing.
The hosts pulled one back straight after half-time through Danny Graham and they were level through Paul Thirlwell's 20-yard strike after 65 minutes.
Joe Anyinsah then put the hosts ahead when his long-range shot took a deflection before it went into the net to seal an improbable victory.
Oldham started the day in third but were left reeling after a 5-0 thumping by second-bottom Hereford.
Stephen Guinan put the hosts ahead after two minutes with a header that looped into the back of the goal and he got his second seven minutes later.
Guinan's header then crashed against the bar with Lionel Ainsworth pouncing to put the hosts three up in the 27th minute. However, Guinan claimed his hat-trick when he tapped in from close range four minutes before half-time.
Ainsworth got his second with a strike from the left-hand side of the area to seal a stunning win.
Scunthorpe fared little better at Crewe where the bottom side claimed a last-minute winner in a 3-2 victory.
