An action-packed start to the season ensures that there are plenty of contenders for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for September.

These prestigious awards are growing in stature every year and there are a host of players sure to be in supporters thoughts as voting hots up.

Last season’s overall League Two winner – Jordan Rhodes – has started life with a bang in League One at Huddersfield and has notched seven goals along with new strike partner Theo Robinson, who is already in contention for the monthly prize.

Another familiar face is Gillingham’s Simeon Jackson and his seven goals will put him in the frame alongside regular winner Jermaine Beckford who has already snared five goals in Leeds’s unbeaten start to the campaign. Teammate Robert Snodgrass is also collecting a few votes.

Veterans Nicky Forster and Neil Harris from Brighton and Millwall respectively have both bagged five goals whilst Rickie Lambert’s instant impact at Southampton has lifted the gloom for Saints’ supporters.

Carl Baker’s goalscoring feats have not gone unnoticed at Stockport too and he will also be in the frame along with new Charlton centre half and cult hero Miguel Llera.

Here’s a check on the early runners and riders in League One

Jermaine Beckford – Leeds
Robert Snodgrass – Leeds
Stephen Gleeson – MK Dons
Theo Robinson – Huddersfield
