Yeovil Town’s new signing Scott Murray insists it was the lure of a 12-month contract that tempted him to Yeovil ahead of Exeter City.

The former Bristol City midfielder linked up with his Glovers team-mates for training and is hoping to make an impact at Huish Park.

“It was between the two (Yeovil and Exeter),” Murray told BBC Radio Bristol.

“In the end, Exeter could only offer me a six month contract and Yeovil have come up with the 12 months. So I think it was a pretty easy choice.

“It's been a while now since I knew I was probably going to be leaving Bristol City, so to have something that's all signed and done, I'm very happy with it.

“Everyone gets along with everybody, and the gaffer - Terry Skiverton - and Nathan Jones are two young lads looking excited about their new jobs. Everyone is excited about the new season. It's a bit weird that the manager is younger than me though!

“The pre-season is a hard time and for a footballer it is probably the worst time, with all the running and stuff, but they make it enjoyable to be honest, and they are a very good bunch of lads,” he continued.

“I want to try and play in all of the games. I still see myself as a fit lad and I just want to play football and get starting the games, and hopefully do enough to get another contract next season as well.”
