Paul Lambert hailed goalkeeper Fraser Forster's performance as "world class" as 10-man Norwich beat Brentford 1-0 to move to the top of League One.

The Canaries shrugged off the dismissal of top scorer Grant Holt to record a record-equalling 10th successive home win, with Chris Martin netting a 77th-minute winner after good work from substitute Oli Johnson, but the Bees would have come away with some reward for their considerable efforts had loanee Forster not made his string of excellent saves.

"When you consider Fraser is only 21 it was an extraordinary performance," said Lambert.

"Some of the saves he made were world class and it got to the stage when you just thought he's never going to get beaten.

"At his age he is one of the best goalkeepers I have seen. I don't know who England have got at under-21 level at the moment but I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending him."
