Leicester opened up a four-point lead at the top of Coca-Cola League One after coming from behind to secure a 3-1 win at lowly Hereford.

The hosts, who are second from bottom, had taken a shock lead on the half hour through Steve Guinan's penalty after Joe Mattock was adjudged to have brought down Jennison Myrie-Williams in the box.

But Matt Oakley equalised within five minutes and two late strikes from Lloyd Dyer and Steve Howard ensured the Foxes continue their march towards automatic promotion.

Leeds consolidated their play-off position with a 1-0 win over Stockport, Jonathan Howson pouncing in the ninth minute after Conrad Logan had failed to deal with Robert Snodgrass ball.

Simon Grayson's team are now level on points with fourth-placed MK Dons and one behind Millwall in third.

They are joined in the top six by Tranmere, who leapfrogged Scunthorpe courtesy of a 1-0 win at Walsall. Bas Savage scored the winner with 10 minutes to go with a header from Edrissa Sonko's cross.

At the bottom, Brighton remain deep in trouble after succumbing to a 3-2 home defeat against Swindon.

Meanwhile, neither Crewe or Hartlepool could do much to ease their relegation fears after they played out a goalless draw at the Alexandra Stadium that leaves them 20th and 18th respectively.

Elsewhere, Leyton Orient overcame Colchester 2-1 at the Matchroom Stadium thanks to a late Jimmy Smith goal.
